Need to get out of the house and enjoy some culture? There are quite a few events happening around Charlottesville Va this weekend. Here are a few you should check out.
- Enjoy an evening of live music Saturday night at the nTelos Wireless Pavillion with the band Lotus and special guests the New Deal. This band has a unique sound that incorporates rock music with elements of electronic music. Lotus performs an exciting show that never fails to have fans on their feet. Doors open at seven in the evening.
- The Tom Tom Founder Festival will be at the Downtown Mall all weekend. This event features live music, art installations, with over 150 artists and musicians participating. There will be neighborhood block parties throughout the area with plenty of local food and artisan brews to sample. This sounds like a party you do not want to miss.
- Watch a free screening of the film “Selma” Friday night at the V. Earl Dickinson Building for Humanities, Fine Arts and Social Sciences at 501 College Drive on the UVA campus. This film is about the three month period when civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr fought to secure equal voting rights in Selma Alabama. The screening starts at 7:30 pm.
