MSC’s Resident Safety Awareness Campaign

About

MSC started the Lock it Up campaign to raise awareness and educate our residents on basic home safety techniques. Every month we will feature new content on this page to help you create a safe home for you and your roommates.

“MSC Residents,

Locking your doors is the single most important thing you can do to protect yourself at home. The Charlottesville Police Department supports MSC’s initiative to raise safety awareness issues.”

Safety Checklist

Lock your door! Keep your keys!

  1. Lock your door! This is the single best deterrent. Even if it is left open for just ONE minute, the risk is always greater. It takes approximately only eight seconds for someone to walk into an open room and remove something such as a wallet or purse.
  2. Keep your keys! DO NOT loan your keys to anyone – even a classmate or a friend. They may not be as careful with them as you are and may lose or misplace them.
  3. If you lose your keys or they are stolen and may be identified as yours, notify the Public Safety Department.
